BC Orchard Industry Museum Prepares for Renovations and Gears up For 21st Annual Apple Fair
- Saturday, October 24th 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


The BC Orchard Industry Museum temporarily closes its doors this week as renovations to the historic Laurel Packinghouse move forward. In light of this, the Museum's annual Apple Fair heads to the orchard- Orchard Park Shopping Centre that is!

Join Museum staff and volunteers on Saturday, October 24th for live entertainment, children's crafts, and over two dozen locally grown apple varieties to sample. You'll find all the Apple Fair activity in Sky Court at the mall, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. There is no admission fee.

Participating community members include the BC Fruit Growers' Association, which will partner with the BC Orchard Industry Museum to provide apple tastings and apple education. Available for sampling will be familiar varieties such as Aurora Golden Gala, Fuji, Spartan, McIntosh, Gala, and Jonagold. In addition there will also be some heirloom varieties donated by PICO- the Okanagan Plant Improvement Corporation at the Summerland Research Station.

The BC Orchard Industry Museum will reopen in the spring of 2010 once renovations are complete.
