Jim:
My thought on this tool is that it is a blacksmithing tool rather than
for wood - possibly used for larger pieces.

Subject: [BCMA] Help identifying an Artefact
I need help identifying this artefact. It is made of ferrous metal in 2
parts. The handle is not that robust and attaches to the head with a
square shape. The head has very blunt blade (could not be used for
cutting), a shaft where the handle attaches is half square and half
round (so the handle can turn on the blade and act like a ratchet) and
has a peened head that looks like it is designed to be struck with a
hammer. I've seen two of these so it is not just a one of a kind. One
was dug up in a back yard in Port Moody and the other is at the Grist
Mill in Keremeos with no donor info. Any help would be appreciated.
