Summer Employment Opportunity
Position: Archives Assistant
The Delta Museum and Archives is looking for a temporary (summer), full-time
(35 hours per week) Archives Assistant. This position is suitable for a
Master of Archival Studies student who has completed a year of study.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Archivist will help to address a backlog in processing
donations made to the archives, including:
* arranging and describing fonds using RAD,
* describing a 200 item map collection according to RAD,
* entering data into an Inmagic db/Textworks database and creating
finding aids, and
* ensuring proper storage of the described records.
The Assistant Archivist will also assist in preparing the Archives
collections for relocation to the new Edgar Dunning Archives Facility.
Qualifications
* Applicant was a full-time student during the last academic year and
is returning to full time study in 2010;
* Is registered with Young Canada Works;
* Has completed first year of an archival program; and
* Is familiar with Rules of Archival Description (RAD).
* Familiarity with Inmagic database is an asset.
Term of employment: June 8th to August 21st , 2010, Tuesday to Saturday
(with occasional Sundays), 9am to 4:30 pm.
Rate of pay: $13.38 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation (rate is subject
to change due to ongoing collective bargaining).
Grant funding has been confirmed for this position.
