U067 - Arts and Culture Programmer - Regular Full-time

The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Arts and Culture Programmer to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Division.



Reporting to the Museum Services Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for planning, developing, coordinating and implementing a wide variety of public programs, activities and special events; scheduling, evaluating and recommending changes to same. You will also recruit, train, direct and oversee the work of volunteers and summer students; hire contract workers engaged in program implementation and monitor the performance of same; collaborate with arts and culture community partner representatives on the development and delivery of special events as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, organizations and groups with a special interest in assigned program areas; providing information to members of the public on program related matters.



Your education will include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area such as fine arts, history, education, culture resource management or a related discipline plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the procedures, methods, practices, and resources applicable to the provision of arts and culture public programs, activities and special events, and of related trends and concerns as well as considerable knowledge of the needs and interests of the community served and of arts and culture resources in the municipality and principles, philosophy and objectives of arts and culture programming as it relates to the work performed is necessary. A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license, Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification is required.



The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $25.98 - $30.59 per hour, plus benefits.  The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
