It's getting late in the summer, but that doesn't mean that the Creston
Museum is sitting back and relaxing! The last few weeks of summer promise
to busy ones at the Museum:
We've been working on a new website. It will be up and running on Thursday,
August 19, and we hope you'll go to www.creston.museum.bc.ca
<http://www.creston.museum.bc.ca/> and check it out. We'd also like to
hear your comments and feedback on it.
The Creston Museum is bringing back the Box Social! A box social is a
traditional family social event with a picnic meal, where decorated gift
boxes are auctioned as a fundraiser
for the host organisation. Bring your whole family, spend an evening
visiting old friends, and make some new ones; meet some of our local
celebrities; and discover the things the Creston Valley has to offer! It
all takes place at the Museum on Friday, September 3. The no-host barbecue
will be fired up at 5:00 PM.
And, on September 18, the annual Quilt Show and Sale returns! This is the
day that we upholster the whole Museum in quilts of all sizes, shapes, and
colours. Some of them are historic quilts from the Museum's collection,
some of them are on loan from quilters in the community. Some of them are
even for sale! The Quilt Show runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and if you
would like to loan us a quilt (or more), give us a call at 250-428-9262.
This is also the last month to see the Electrified! exhibit. It's a look at
the history of electrical power in the Creston Valley, and it has been
bringing back memories all summer.
So if you haven't been down to the Creston Museum yet this year, what are
you waiting for? It's open seven days a week until August 28, and Monday
through Saturday after that.
