The New Delta Archives & Edgar Dunning Reading Room

Open House

Delta, BC - Do you know where your community's history is kept? The Delta
Museum & Archives Society holds historical evidence of Delta's past and is
responsible for the preservation of the community's history through the
collection of objects, photographs and a variety of documents that capture
the stories and history of Delta. The Archives department of the Delta
Museum & Archives Society, which is responsible for the preservation of the
community's records consisting of photographs, books, maps, newspaper and
oral histories, has moved to a new home.

The Society is pleased to provide Archival Services to the community in the
Delta Archives and Edgar Dunning Reading Room, at 4450 Clarence Taylor
Crescent. This facility is located at ground-level to ensure better access
for our visitors along with a state-of-the-art temperature and humidity
controlled environment to better protect the collections. As collections
become more digitized and electronically accessible, this system is integral
in ensuring the longevity of all media formats within our collection.

The Society would like to extend an invitation to all Delta residents,
visitors and researchers to join staff and the Board of Trustees for light
refreshments during our Open House at the new facility on Saturday, January
15, 2011 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. During this event parking will be
available in the parking lot adjacent to the Corporation of Delta's
Municipal Hall.

The Archives will be open to the public Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am to
4:00pm, commencing January 8. For further information and complete driving
directions, please visit our website at www.deltamuseum.ca.

The Museum will continued to be housed in the historical 1912 Tudor-style
building located in the heart of Ladner Village at 4858 Delta Street, will
continue to tell Delta's rich history through exciting exhibits, fun
activities and special programs for both children and adults and is open
Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am to 4:30pm. For further information, please
call 604-946-9322 or visit our website at www.deltamuseum.ca.

Established in 1969, the Delta Museum & Archives Society is a not-for-profit
society whose mission is to capture, research and preserve stories, records
and objects of Delta; promote community identity and facilitate access to
our community's rich history and diverse culture through education, exhibits
and reference services for all present and future generations.
