White Rock Museum Hosts Series of Panel Discussions

White Rock: February 11, 2010

The White Rock Museum + Archives is hosting a series of panel discussions titled "In Their Own Words". The first panel, "Art in White Rock", will be held Saturday February 20th at 10:30 am in the White Rock Museum Meeting Room.

This panel will feature three local artists:

Serge Dube - Since 1983 Serge has been painting with various mediums including watercolour, oil and acrylic. His work runs the gamut from realism to impressionism. His extensive body of work and long career has made him well known internationally.

Nicoletta Baumeister - Nicoletta was educated at Langara College and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. After graduating with honours, she spent time in Germany studying gold and silver smithing. She opened her own studio in 1986 and has since worked primarily in watercolour chalk and pastel.

Leonard Wells - Leonard and his brother Leslie Wells are both master carvers from the Semiahmoo First Nation. They had the privilege of apprenticing with renowned Haida carver Robert Davidson. One of their most recent works is 'Under the Double Eagle' and 'Elder Moon', a large double sided carving installed at the roundabout at 20th Avenue and Rotary Way in South Surrey.

The discussion will be open and informal. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions.

"I'm looking forward to a vibrant discussion on what it is to be an artist in White Rock, and how this city inspires the creative process."

- Hugh Ellenwood, Archives Manager, White Rock Museum + Archives

Coffee and tea will be served and admission is by donation. As seating may be limited call 604 541 2222 or email whiterockarchives at telus.net to register or for more information.
