Kelowna Street Names - Their Origins
- Book Launch, Saturday, July 10, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The wait is over. The second edition of Kelowna Street Names - Their Origins will be released this Saturday at the Okanagan Heritage Museum at an exclusive book launch starting at 11:00 a.m.

Published by the Kelowna Branch of the Okanagan Historical Society, the new edition of Kelowna Street Names updates the first edition the Society published in 1994. Kelowna Street Names has been sold out for several years and the only copies that have been publically available are held in archives and libraries.

"For the past five years, a committee has been compiling information from various sources to add to the book," says Alice Lundy, Chair of the Street Names Committee and a long time member of the Okanagan Historical Society. "This is a thoroughly researched book that provides a background of the origins of the names of many of our local streets, including information about the people whose names are attached to various thoroughfares."

Many of Kelowna's streets are named after pioneer families and Kelowna Street Names provides their histories and connections to the community.

Kelowna Street Names - Their Origins, 196 pages, text and photographs, coil bound, $25.00 each.

The Okanagan Historical Society (OHS) is dedicated to the preservation of local history and the Kelowna Branch has supported the community in various capacities since it was established in 1948. They have over 300 members of all age groups and new members of the community are encouraged to join and participate in all of their activities.
