[BCMA] Cultural Resource Management Announcement

The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria is pleased to announce that we're taking a new approach to our two introductory online survey courses. While tutors have supported these as independent study courses in the past, starting this Fall, instructors will oversee these online offerings and interact with participants to explore the relevance of course materials to their experience and practice. We are happy to welcome the following to our team of distinguished instructors:


*         Victoria Angel, Manager of the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office (FHBRO) of Parks Canada, will serve as instructor for  Heritage Resource Management, our core course on the heritage conservation side. Victoria worked with the Heritage Places Initiative (HPI) before assuming her new role with FHBRO, and holds a B.A. in Art History and an M.A. in Heritage Conservation, both from Carleton University.


*         Deborah Tuyttens, Museum Supervisor at Burnaby Village Museum, will serve as instructor for both the fall and spring Museum Principles and Practices courses that cover the role of museums in society and their core functions. In addition to her extensive experience in the museum field, Deborah brings an MA in Anthropology with a museum studies specialization, and an MBA with a cultural heritage specialization to her work and teaching.

You can take these courses on a non-credit basis to strengthen your foundations for cultural heritage practice - or as a starting point for a Diploma in Cultural Resource Management.
