The White Rock Museum + Archives announces two new exhibits and prepares for renovations.

 

White Rock:  June 22, 2010

 

BIG SAND is a reflection on the great Canadian Open Sandcastle Competition that took White Rock by storm every summer from 1979 to 1987.  The exhibit tells the surprising story of how the competition came to be, some of the incredible sculptures that were created, and why it ended in 1987.  News video, souvenirs and ribbons from the collections and images from the archives will send you back a few decades.

 

MAGIC LIGHT features photographs by Michele and Julian Wright, local photographers who found inspiration in the White Rock area.

 

These two exhibits along with our regular Ticket Office and local history displays will be open to the public until August 29, 2010 when the museum will close for renovations until next March.

 

Come visit this summer at the train station building near the pier on Marine Drive in White Rock.

 

The White Rock Museum + Archives is a community organization serving residents of and visitors to White Rock.  Our mandate is to collect, preserve, research, interpret and exhibit White Rock's heritage, both past and present.
