Job Title: Art Adventures Supervisor/Teacher

Job Description:

The Art Adventures Supervisor/Teacher will contribute to public awareness of and access to the programs and services offered by the Kelowna Art Gallery. The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and implementation of the Art Adventures summer art camps for children. This includes overseeing the Art Adventures team, budget management, teaching art and marketing and promotion. The Art Adventures Supervisor/Teacher will network with Kelowna Art Gallery and City of Kelowna staff, members of Kelowna's Cultural District and the Downtown Kelowna Association, and local media representatives.

 

Responsibilities:

§      Complete Kelowna Art Gallery orientation and review of mission, policies and procedures

§      Attend weekly meetings with Head of Public Programming

§      Design art projects and implement Art Adventures program

§      Secure sponsorships from local businesses

§      Create quality, age-appropriate lesson plans

§      Teach art classes for children ages 6 to 13

§      Coordinate and oversee Art Adventures team

§      Manage program budget

§      Write press releases and liaise with media

§      Organize volunteers


 


Requirements


§      Education in the visual arts or in teaching

§      Experience working with children.

§      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

§      Basic computer skills.

§      Mature and responsible

§      Self motivated and articulate

§      Positive outlook 

 

Duration: 14 weeks


Start and end dates: May 24 - August 27, 2010


Language of Work: English

Driver's license required: Yes

Hourly wage: $16.00
