Touchstones Nelson: Museum of Art and History seeks a PT Curator
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Curator oversees the
development, coordination and administration of all aspects of the Society’s
ongoing exhibitions. 

This is a job-share position. All duties are co-managed.

 

Start date: January 2011

Salary: $17.60 per hour (no benefits at this time)

Hours: Part Time (14 hours per week) with three weeks vacation per annum.

 

Duties:

§         Develop and implement the annual exhibition schedule for temporary
exhibitions;

§         Assist in exhibition fabrication and installation;

§         Ensure a high level of quality and professionalism in the
presentation of all temporary exhibitions and interpretive materials;

§         Work with the Collections Manager/Archivist to effectively use
artifacts and/or archival materials in temporary exhibitions;

§         Build and maintain positive relationships with local and regional
artists including making studio visits;

§         Assist in promoting exhibitions.

 

Qualifications:

*	Academic background in a field related to the position (e.g. Visual
Arts, Museum Studies, Art History, Anthropology) or equivalent combination
of education and work experience;

*	Demonstrated leadership and practical experience in the development,
installation and management of temporary exhibitions in a public art
gallery/museum setting;
*	Experience in project management and in working collaboratively with
a small team;
*	Strong computer skills, desktop publishing an asset;
*	Experience in both visual arts and heritage sectors a definite
asset.
