Ride the Halloween Train, If You Dare!
Cowichan All aboard the new Halloween Train to experience the spookiest
weekend of the year at the BC Forest Discovery Centre from October 29-31.
Chilling surprises await passengers on Samson, the museums 1910 steam
train, as they travel through haunted displays in the forest including a
cemetery and pumpkin alley. Expect to be spooked by classic Halloween
characters such as vampires and witches, says Vicki Holman, Manager of the
museum. Characters will be mingling among the visitors to create a spooky
and exciting evening of family fun and adventure.
The Halloween Train is a family-oriented event and there is programming for
all ages including Halloween-themed music. The main gallery will be clad
in tradition Halloween decorations, says Holman, Well be offering trick
or treats for the little ones and other spooktacular fun for those who feel
brave. The doors open at 2.:30 pm for families with young children that
wish to visit during the daylight hours.
The Halloween Train was developed in response to community demand. We have
received many visitor requests over the years for a Halloween event, says
Holman, As we continue to expand our operating season each year, the timing
was finally right. Staff and volunteers at the BCFDC are looking forward to
the new adventure. The event will raise funds to help cover the cost of
operating the museum and caring for artefacts.
The Halloween Train takes place from 2:30 pm 8:30 pm on Friday, October
29, Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31. The train leaves the
station every 30 minutes from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Admission to the event is
based on shoulder season rates and is included in with a seasons pass to
the BC Forest Discovery Centre. For more information, visit
