A Parade Marching Backwards in Time
The Trinity Western University Grad Art Show
March 31 - April 30
The Langley Centennial Museum is pleased to bring you "A Parade Marching Backwards in Time: The Trinity Western University Grad Art Show." TWU has partnered with the Museum for three consecutive years to present this exhibit, and now eight TWU students are showcasing their work. Nat Ferguson, Daniel Giesbrecht, Meghan Hitchman, Dylan De Jong, Rachel Klassen, Jill MacKnee, Dezi De Ruiter, and Jojo Wang devoted their talents to preparing the multiple features of the exhibition and will be contributing works that are the culmination of their art education.
For the past four years, these students have learned and practiced within a studio setting, while also studying art history, theory, and a variety of other academic disciplines. They have explored traditional and contemporary artistic media and have developed distinctive abilities to conceive and execute technically demanding, creative work.
Marching backwards, these students pay homage to their own growth by tackling themes such as literature, philosophy, psychology, history, and communications - themes that go beyond mere art in practice. Notions of memory, the production of fear, and profoundly personal narratives are demonstrated by these senior art students, a diverse group unified by their ability to express their unique experiences, comment on humanity, and engage with social issues.
An successful opening reception was held at the museum on the evening of Thursday, March 31, with over 300 people in attendance.
