[BCMA] Il Museo at the Italian Cultural Centre - Recruitment Advertisement

The Italian Cultural Centre, Vancouver, is pleased to announce the launch of
year-long project relating to the internment of Italian Canadians during the
Second World War. As part of the project we will produce a museum exhibition
to examine the Italian Canadian experience of WWII. The exhibition will
explore the impact of internment and war measures on Vancouver's Italian
population, as well as the contributions to the Canadian war effort made by
members of the Italian community. 

We invite applications for the following contracts:

 

Exhibition Curator, $20 per hour, average 18 hours per week, April 2011 -
March 31 2012

Working an average of 2 days a week from April 2011 until March 31 2012 you
will be responsible for writing, developing and overseeing the construction
of an interactive multimedia museum exhibition. 

You will co-ordinate a team including a museum designer, software designer,
researcher and Education and Outreach Officer to deliver a high quality
exhibition which will engage with both the Italian-Canadian and wider
communities and be accessible to schoolchildren and young people. 

You will have experience of researching and developing engaging museum
exhibits which communicate complex information in accessible ways to broad
audiences, including children and young people. 

 

Historical Researcher, $18.80 per hour, 80 hours, April - June 2010

You will assist the Exhibition Curator in researching the history of the
internment of Italian Canadians from Vancouver and the impact of the War
Measures Act on the wider Italian Canadian Community. You will research the
contributions, military and civilian, of Vancouver's Italian Canadians to
the Canadian war effort and assist in sourcing and securing the loan or
donation of objects relating to these topics for the museum exhibition.
