OR..

We can stuff one piece of sheet music into each of the Delegate bags at the
next BCMA conference and we can each take a piece of the collection home to
enjoy. (for those who don't know me I am kidding)

Tom: of that set of 70, you might first separate them into three subsets:

*	pre-Tin Pan Alley
*	Tin Pan Alley originals
*	post-Tin Pan Alley

Second, select from subsets one and three those you can verify are by
Canadian composers.

Finally, contact the Canadian Museum of Civilization which has related
holdings; ask for Dr. Carmelle Begin's curatorial successor for guidance in
finding the most suitable repository to which to contact next.

A bit of work, I know, but you may have some treasures there.

Subject: [BCMA] Sheet music collections

Burnaby Village Museum has been offered a collection of 70 pieces of sheet
music. When I did a quick search of the database I discovered that we
already have several hundred pieces of sheet music in the collection. Some
of it has delightful cover illustrations and are visually very intersting
but what is the importance of the musical score?

Is their anyone who knows of a knowledgable source about sheet music?

Is there an archive or other collection in British Columbia that makes a
specialty of musical material?

We have scanned the covers of a number of music sheets (because they look
nice) but is that the most important information to be had?

>From my point of view it would be good to thin out this collection. I am
looking for the best criteria to assess what we have.
