Summer at the MMBC...

A Midsummer Master and Commander
Back by popular demand, the Maritime Museum of BC presents a Midsummer Master and Commander with a new selection of readings and music.

Enjoy another enchanting evening of 19th century music and nautical poetry and prose readings that will delight the heart of every fan of Captain Jack Aubrey and Doctor Stephen Maturin. With music performed by Windrift Woodwind Quintet and readings by Herbert O'Driscoll and David Bray - it promises to be the perfect way to enjoy a midsummer evening.

Date:                        Thursday, August 4th, 7 - 9 pm

Starry Night Navigation
Join the Maritime Museum of BC, the Centre of the Universe and Five Star Whale Watching for a journey into the delicate art of celestial navigation. Let us guide you through the methods and science behind navigation using the stars, moon, and planets. Then put your new skills to the test as you experience a night out on the water aboard one of 5 Star's signature vessels.

Open to all ages (recommended 8 and up), this promises to be an evening you won't forget! Your journey begins at 8:30pm with an introductory course to astronomy and navigation and ends with a fabulous boat ride amongst the stars and moon. Hot drinks and refreshments are included!

Date:                        Saturday, August 13th, 8:30-11:30pm
Cost:                         $85 for Adults (19+)
                                    $65 for Youths (6-18)
