The following have been approved for deaccessioning so are available to
other museums:

plate IH2009.898.1 "From Dec 1 1985 letter by Archie Miller to Frank
Hakkaart, Chief Engineer, 'The Province' ... The donor at that time
stated that he had picked up the press from the Vancouver Province
newspaper some years before 1976 during an upgrading at the paper's
plant. He had been told that it was an old press at that time and had
been with the paper, and perhaps other early Vancouver papers, for many
years. The donor, who has unfortunately passed away ...The press is
marked GOLDING on both sides on the support arms. No patent date
markings have been found ... The press stands about 58 inches tall with
a rough base size of 36 inches by 26 inches. ... The wood which you see
[in the photos he attached], does not appear to be original and could
certainly be removed to allow the press to stand on its own feet. ...
The wheel seen on the left of the press has a diameter of about 35
inches." Although the Curator at the time believed it could be put into
working condition, the press is incomplete as the arm holding the platen
is broken off. The platen MAY be elsewhere in storage (large cast iron
disc about 20" in diameter with a smooth upper surface and angled
notches on the bottom side for the rotation gear tooth. CONDITION -
Poor. Cast iron parts are broken. Has data plate. Heavy. Possibly only
good for parts or as a boat anchor (Maritime museums please take note).
Not wanted by the Museum of Vancouver.
Piano. Upright model. No history. "Upright piano with burl veneer on
top, front cover, and lower front. Inside keyboard cover "A.J. Harland

but missing the two candle swing-arm brackets (bracket bases are still
mounted). Some keys are chipped and cracked. Some keys are "dead".

this time but it is possible that we may be able to deaccession one
later.
