[BCMA] Volunteer Insurance coverage

Hi Jan
You had better check with your insurance agent for the provincially mandated 
insurance -it covers visitors not likely volunteers.  Some responses have 
indicated extra forms for volunteers.  As for common sense, I don't want to 
put anyone at risk but picking up a box of decorations, let alone hanging 
them up or setting up tables and chairs puts a volunteer at more risk than a 
visitor.

Apparently, a BC volunteer would be covered under their own MSP for medical 
as under WorkSafe, (WCB) they are not considered empolyees, the only 
exception being a volunteer fireperson.   However, volunteers are not 
covered for any income loss.  What happens if a student volunteer develops 
carpal tunnel doing data entry for you? Piano teacher catches their finger 
folding up a chair?
