[BCMA] Summer Job Posting - Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre

Located in the Canadian Rockies, a 20 minute drive east of Banff and one
hour west of Calgary, the Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre is eager to
hire a full-time student as a Humidification Project Assistant.



The Humidification Project Assistant will work under the supervision of the
Collections Manager to humidify and flatten approximately half of its 225+
collection of rolled historic maps, blue-prints and large-scale
photographs. Material will be catalogued and data entered to the Museum’s
Inmagic database. Documents will also be prepped for shipping to and from a
3rd party scanning company and then stored according to professional
standards. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working
independently as well as part of a team.

*Requirements: *

The candidate should be a student in a degree or diploma program concerned
with Museum Studies, or similar field, and must:

·        be registered with the YCW program;

·        be legally entitled to work in Canada;

·        be enrolled in school prior to and after the position;

·        be between the ages of 16 and 30;

·        not have another full-time job (over 30 hours per week) during the
length of the position



Candidates will also be familiar with professional Canadian standards in
the accessioning, cataloguing, care and storage of artifacts. Experience
with Microsoft Office Suite, InMagic database and Adobe Photoshop are
assets, as is a general knowledge of western Canadian history. Familiarity
with humidification processes also considered an asset.
