Hello,
We still have a monthly speakers program here in Qualicum Beach with the Qualicum Beach Historical and Museum Society although we have also seen a steady decline in memberships over the past 5 years or so. However, in order to maintain the viability of this program, we advertise the event in our local newspaper and therefore attract the public at large. We simply ask for a donation towards the society as an "entry fee" and this has given us enough attendance, most of the time, to keep this program running.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
