Kyabgon Phakchock Rinpoche, the supreme head of the Tibetan Taklung Kagyu
Buddhist lineage, will conduct the first known pet blessing in Vancouver by
a Buddhist lama.
According to Buddhist thought, blessing animals can help reduce the
hardships they may face in their lives, and lead to a positive rebirth.
Pet owners are urged to reserve a spot online
<http://petblessing.eventbrite.ca> . For the safety of all participants,
dogs must be leashed and well-behaved and small animals must be in a carrier
or otherwise contained. If the pet cannot attend the ceremony, owners can
bring a photo for blessing. A portion of the suggested $20 donation will be
used to help dogs-in-need in Kathmandu, Nepal.
An extraordinary and humorous speaker, Phakchok Rinpoche is fluent in
English and delivers clear and profound explanations of Buddhist philosophy.
He will be in Vancouver to provide teachings from Aug. 31 to Sept 5. Check
mangalashrifoundation.org to register or find more information.
