Montreal Museum of Fine Arts expands to house Hornstein collection

 The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has announced it will construct a new building to house Michal and 
Renata Hornstein's recent donation of Old Masters paintings valued at $75 million - the largest private art

Hamilton's War of 1812 shipwrecks 'an archeologist's dream'

 The Hamilton and the Scourge - two wooden ships from the War of 1812 - are aging well at the bottom 
of Lake Ontario, according to surveyors who have been studying the wrecks. The American schooners, 
which sank in 1813, lie 90 metres below the surface of the lake, about 10.5 kilometres off Port Dalhousie. 
The ships have been owned by the City of Hamilton since 1980, but a partnership with Parks Canada 
allows surveyors to map out every inch of the boats. More/LIRE PLUS

Delta Museum's executive director leaves for post with Greater Vancouver Homebuilders

 Mark Sakai has left his position as executive director of the Delta Museum and Archives to take a job with 
the Greater Vancouver Homebuilders' Association. He spent four years with the museum, finishing at the 
end of November. Sakai, who was previously employed at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Richmond, said

Haida artist Jim Hart pays tribute to the salmon

by Emily Carr and Charles John Collings, a remarkable event is taking place. In an exhibition room 
converted to an open studio, Haida artist Jim Hart is executing the biggest commission of his distinguished, 
30-year career. It is based on a traditional Northwest Coast dance screen and is five metres wide, more
