History is not a plaything
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
Replacing the Canadian Museum of Civilization with the proposed Canadian Museum of History will rob
Canadians of our largest and most popular museum by getting rid of an internationally recognized
institution that has been at the forefront of historical and archeological research on human cultural heritage
in Canada and internationally. More/LIRE PLUS

Exhibit honours Alberta labour
Canmore Leader Share/Partager
A new exhibit celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Alberta Federation of Labour has landed at the
Canmore Museum &Geoscience Centre. The labour federation, founded on June 14, 1912 in Lethbridge,
was a crucial organization for labourers in Alberta, and was responsible for setting such standards as the
eight-hour workday. Museum director Debbie Carrico is hoping that Bow Valley residents will find much to
relate to in the traveling exhibit. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Charles Daudelin (station Mont-Royal). More/LIRE PLUS

Make gift-giving a real work of art
Postmedia News Share/Partager
At this busy time of year, you might think of museums and galleries only as refuges from bad weather or
the in-laws. But think again: Most have terrific gifts shops overflowing with gift ideas ranging from calendars
and coffee mugs to jewelry, clothing and precious works of art, many of them also available online. We took
a look at some of the museums and galleries across Canada, and here are just a few of the goodies we
found. More/LIRE PLUS
