Rennie releases proposal for multi-venue art gallery system

With the deadline looming for the Vancouver Art Gallery to prove its case for a new home on city-owned 
land, local art collector/philanthropist Bob Rennie has presented a detailed proposal for his alternative 
vision. The 22-page document was sent to some key players recently, including the VAG's chair, the B.C. 
premier and Vancouver´s mayor. It calls for exhibition and storage space at seven newly created or re-

War museum says smaller 1812 exhibit will tour museums across Canada

The Canadian War Museum says a smaller version of its War of 1812 exhibition will tour across the 
country, beginning next spring with a stop at the St. Catharines Museum in St. Catharines, ON. 
Mannequins, ship and battlefield models, and maps are among artifacts featured in the travelling 140-

cette culture, estime le ministre de la Culture, Maka Kotto, qui a dû défendre sa décision de rapatrier 22 
délégués à Montréal pour une semaine. Ces derniers n'ont par ailleurs pas chômépendant cette période «

Vancouver architect design chosen for Hong Kong project

Vancouver architect Bing Thom has been selected to design a Chinese opera house in Hong Kong that will 
serve as one of the landmarks of a major new arts and cultural development. Hong Kong-born Thom will 
team up with fellow architect Ronald Lu to design the Xiqu Centre, a new facility devoted to the traditional 
performing art of Chinese opera, which combines singing, acting, martial arts, dance and percussion and
