March Break Programs at Craigdarroch Castle:
"A Little Bit of History and a Whole Lot of Fun!"

Victoria, BC, Canada - Craigdarroch Castle is pleased to announce an exciting new series of March break programs from March 12 - 23 for elementary school children, teens and young adults.   Designed to bring history to life, sessions are divided into age ranges in order to target appropriate themes and topics.

For elementary students, weekday classes will feature a guided I-spy tour of the Castle, a Victorian-style craft activity, snack and indoor/outdoor games.    Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are for ages 8-11. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for students ages 5-7.  $25 for 2.5 hours.  (9:30 AM to noon.)  Pre-registration and payment is required.  Drop off starts at 9:20 and pickup is at noon.   Parents are encouraged to register quickly, as each class will be limited to just 12 lucky children.



For teens and young adults, a series of vintage craft workshops will tie into our ongoing Vintage Craft series for adults.  Featuring a range of crafts that would have been popular during the Dunsmuir's time, these workshops have been updated to modern styles and sensibilities.  Teen  and young adult craft sessions include:



Modern day Silhouette art: Monday, March 12th 2-4 p.m.  $25 + $5 materials fee (payable to instructor.)

Introduction to Hand-Stitched Embroidery:  Wednesday, March 14th 2-4 p.m.  $25 +$5 materials fee.

Introduction to Knitting (make a scarf):  Friday, March 16th  2-4 p.m.  $25 - BYO needles & yarn

Découpage: A Victorian era Pastime:  Saturday, March 17th from 10 AM - 1pm  $50

Introduction to crochet (make a headband):  Monday, March 19th 2-4 p.m.  $25 (BYO hook & yarn.)

Victorian Stencil Art (design and print your own stencil):  Wed. March 21st 2-4 p.m. $25 + $10 materials

Teacups into Pincushions (create a custom pincushion!):  Friday, March 23rd 2-4 p.m.  $25

Scrapbooking: This Victorian craft is now in a renaissance!  Saturday March 24th from 10 AM - 1pm  $50
