Culture Tour 2012
A Tour of Kelowna's Religious Culture
On Tuesday, 21 February 2012, during Canada's Heritage Week and in the spirit of Harmony day, the Kelowna Museums Society will be hosting a Culture Tour of a variety of religious buildings in Kelowna for Grades 5 and 6 students.  The tour, designed for the Social Studies curriculum 'Identity, Society and Culture' will help to make students aware of the various cultures within our own community and of their contribution to our Canadian heritage.
The places of worship arranged for the students to visit this year are: St. Michael's and All Angels Cathedral Church, Kelowna Buddhist Temple, Okanagan Sikh Temple, and the Okanagan Jewish Synagogue.
As well as visiting sites they may never have the opportunity to experience, the students will be able to draw comparisons in terms of history, daily life, language, religions and family structures within our Canadian cultural diversity.

The Education & Public Programming department of the Kelowna Museums Society is dedicated to the education of the public and offers guided tours and specialized group programs for all ages at all four venues: the Okanagan Heritage Museum, the BC Orchard Industry Museum, the BC Wine Museum, and the Okanagan Military Museum.
