Tiny human brains threaten giant dinosaur bones in Alberta

Everybody knows Alberta's windblown south is one of the world's great dinosaur-hunting zones.
Drumheller, where the geological record of prehistory lies exposed almost everywhere you look, is home to
the Royal Tyrrell Museum, Canada's premier independent institution of paleontology. But there are
dinosaurs in Alberta's north, too. They're just harder to find in a land of boreal forests, says fossil hunter
Phil Bell. "The only exposed areas are along riverbanks. That's where you´ve got to go to find these things".

Testing Toronto museum apps: ROM, AGO, MOCCA

Going to a museum? There´s an app for that. It could hardly be otherwise these days, each of us armed
with pocket-sized supercomputers desperately clamouring for content and interactivity. Time was when you
could go to an exhibition of any kind and if it was any good, all the interactivity you´d ever need or want
would be taking place in the pleasure centre of your brain. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Africville replica church complete for reunion
CBC News Share/Partager
As the 29th annual Africville summer reunion starts this week, some former residents are celebrating the
completion of the Africville Church and Museum. Africville, the former black settlement in north-end Halifax,
was first settled in the 1830s when former American slaves and other black people moved to the area. But
it was neglected by the former City of Halifax and became run-down over the years. More/LIRE PLUS

Pioneer Pacific steamship to be honoured by new medal
Postmedia News Share/Partager
Just 101 feet long and 109 tons of 'British oak, elm, greenheart and teak', the SS Beaver was built for the
Hudson's Bay Co. in 1835. The province's most famous and most iconic steamship has embarked upon
another novel voyage with the launching of the SS Beaver Medal for Maritime Excellence by the Maritime
Museum of B.C. Making the medal, three of which will be awarded annually, even more desirable is its
provenance - it contains metals from its illustrious 19th-century namesake. More/LIRE PLUS

North Fork due for 'BioBlitz'
Daily Inter Lake Share/Partager
British Columbia's North Fork Flathead drainage will soon be swarming with scientists looking to document
as many forms of life possible in a first-ever 'BioBlitz' for the area. The search will involve about a dozen
scientists and support personnel combing the drainage for birds, bees, bats, fish, fungi, flowers, lichens,
trees, reptiles and mammals of all types. More/LIRE PLUS
