BC Sports Hall of Fame unveils new exhibit cases in the Hall of Champions -
celebrating BC's history at the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

 

Vancouver, B.C. (July 24, 2012) - In celebration of the upcoming Opening
Ceremonies for the 2012 London Olympics, the BC Sports Hall of Fame has
unveiled four display cases in the Hall of Champions featuring exceptional
(and sometimes a little bizarre) Summer Olympic artifacts. Starting
Wednesday, July 25th the Hall of Champions cases will showcase artifacts
representing a century of Olympic Games participation. 

 

Artifacts representing over 100 years of BC's involvement in the Summer
Games include:

.         19 Olympic and Paralympic competition medals from BC's first in
1912 - through 2008

.         32 Olympic participation medals including a rare Moscow 1980 medal
given to athletes who were selected to the Canadian team

.         Unique London 1948 souvenirs (See Souvenir program attached)

.         Samples of Olympic uniforms from Percy William's formal blazer
from 1928 to the more casual 2008 Canadian team uniform

 

          

The BC Sports Hall of Fame is open daily from 10am-5pm at Gate A of BC Place
(located on Beatty Street between Robson and Georgia Streets). Look for the
statue of double Olympic gold medalist Percy Williams right out front of the
doors.

.         Please note the Hall of Champions in the BC Sports Hall of Fame is
booked for a special event on Friday, July 27 from 10am-1pm. All other areas
