*Summer Employment Opportunity (Young Canada Works)
Position:**Education Programs Assistant*

The Richmond Art Gallery is seeking a temporary (summer), part-time (30 
hours/week) Education Programs Assistant. The incumbent will work 
closely with the School Program Coordinator and Education and Public 
Programs Coordinator in the development, coordination and delivery of 
various educational programs for children and adults.

_Duties and Responsibilities_:


. Assist in the development of educational resources for the Gallery 
/School Art Program/.
. Work with the School Program Coordinator in the planning, preparation, 
management and delivery of a variety of /Children's Drawing Courses/ for 
students aged 6 -- 13.

. Work with the Education and Public Programs Coordinator in the 
planning, coordination, and management of various educational art events 
including artist talks, workshops for adults, opening receptions, and 
gallery tours.

. Be involved in day-to-day ongoing programming tasks, such as database 
management, event coordination, developing educational programs and 
materials, administrative duties, volunteer management, and delivery of 
programming.


_Qualifications:_

. The candidate must fulfill all of the eligibility requirements of the 
Young Canada Works program: be between 18 and 30 years of age, 
registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and 
intending to return to school the next academic year, and register on 
the YCW web site: http://www.pch.gc.ca/special/ycw-jct/html/welcome_e.htm

. University studies in Visual Arts (Studio) or Education preferred.

. Experience working with the public (especially children) an asset.

. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public 
speaking and presentation experience.
  . Ability to multi-task, work well independently and within a team 
environment are required.
. A criminal records background check may be required.

_ Term of Employment:_

July 3 -- August 10, 2012; Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:30pm, with a 
half-hour unpaid lunch (occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be required).
Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour
