The Nanaimo Museum is hosting two public events this month:

 

Double Book Launch

November 17th, 2012 1:00pm

 

The Nanaimo Museum  is excited to host a joint book launch with authors
Kate Braid & Marilyn Bowering. Journeywoman is Braid's autobiographical
account of her groundbreaking story of success in the male-dominated
field of carpentry, at a time when women in trades were rare and
discouraged. Bowering's Soul Mouth is a collection of poetry that
explores the story of childhood and the development of observation,
sexuality, and spirituality through their connections to the animal
world and nature. The launch will happen in the museum gallery and light

Book Launch & Hallway Exhibit Opening

Launch: November 24th, 2012 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Hallway Exhibit: November 24/12 - January 31/13

 

The museum is excited to host the launch of 111 West Coast Literary
Portraits by Barry Peterson and Blaise Enright, which features rare
portraits of B.C. writers, accompanied by excerpts of their writing. The
books creators shot over 60 portraits in black and white of writers in
their personal space, where they felt less inhibited, resulting in
intimate portraits of B.C.'s best, most honoured, as well as emerging,
literary talent. In addition to the launch, a special selection of
portraits will be exhibited in the Hallway Gallery here at the museum.
Light refreshments will be provided, and the Nanaimo Museum will be
