Families Create Maps and Memories on Wonder Sunday



Victoria, BC - New and interesting ways of navigating the museum - and mapping it together - is just one of the creative family activities offered on Nov. 25 at the Royal BC Museum.



Inspired by Envisioning the World, a current exhibition on the earliest printed maps, families will learn about cartographers' tools of the past and present. Kids then visit stations throughout the museum to make their own maps of animal journeys in the natural history gallery or the buildings in Old Town, guided by a specially created Wonder Sunday map of the museum's world.



With our instant access to views as wide as earth from space, or as close as looking into your neighbour's yard, it's hard to imagine a time when the average person had little idea of their location on this planet. Envisioning the World's early printed maps, from 1472 to 1700, provide a great opportunity for family learning with older children, while extra activities keep things interesting for youngsters.



A community map generated by Royal BC Museum Kids' Club members will also be on display.

Wonder Sunday: Maps and Memory is included in museum admission or membership.
