At the National Gallery: Black and white and everything light
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
One of the inevitable pleasures of attending a biennale is cooking up your own mini-exhibition in your head.
What are the themes that stand out? How to give shape to the assembled inventory? This year's Builders, a
survey of recent acquisitions at the National Gallery of Canada, was curated by the NGC's Jonathan
Shaughnessy to foreground careers of artists who have been critical to the country's cultural fabric -
contemporary nation builders at work today. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Bushplane museum starts digitization project
Sault Star Share/Partager
Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre wants to share its collection of aviation history with more people,
more quickly. Funding from Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is helping the centre
scan the photographs, maps, records and logbooks at its Bay Street site. A dollar figure wasn't available.
Three staff were hired to do the work. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Downsview museum's aircraft need new home
North York Mirror Share/Partager
The Canadian Air and Space Museum (CASM) is looking to raise $500,000 to find temporary storage for
two aircraft and more than 40 freight containers of artifacts. A location needs to be found immediately to
unload the 44 containers before winter weather arrives, said Ian McDougall, volunteer chair of CASM.

More/LIRE PLUS

On Remembrance Day, Chinese Canadians recall struggle for citizenship and equality
Vancouver Observer Share/Partager
His name is Bill Chong, but for a period in his life, he was known as Agent 50 - a Chinese Canadian
working as a spy during the height of the Second World War. After a fateful experience watching a
wounded Canadian soldier brutally shot by the Japanese in Hong Kong, Chong signed up for the British
Army Aid Group and worked there as a spy, rescuing soldiers and civilians from Australia, England, France
and India. More/LIRE PLUS
