Fraser Surrey Docks is the 2012 Inductee into the Fraser River Hall of Fame

 

New Westminster, BC – Each year, the Fraser River Discovery Centre Society
recognizes the significant achievements and contributions made by families,
individuals, businesses and organizations to the Fraser River with an
induction into the prestigious Fraser River Hall of Fame. This year, the
society is proud to induct Fraser Surrey Docks into the Fraser River Hall of
Fame. 

 

Joining an esteemed list of 20 past recipients, Fraser Surrey Docks was
nominated for its pioneering spirit in its development from a small river
port 50 years ago to a major participant in Canada’s Asia Pacific Gateway.
As the largest multi-purpose terminal of its kind on the west coast of North
America, Fraser Surrey Docks has been a growing part of the local economy
for 50 years.

 

“We’re honoured to be selected as this year’s inductee into the Fraser River
Hall of Fame. Over the past 50 years, we have worked hard to build an
efficient and reliable deep-sea cargo terminal on the Fraser River”, said
Jeff Scott, President and CEO, Fraser Surrey Docks. “In partnership with
labour, customers and stakeholders, we have been successful in expanding our
facility and creating a strong reputation for exceptional service. In
collaboration with Port Metro Vancouver, the Fraser River has become an
integral part of the Asia-Pacific Gateway. We’re proud of our involvement in
the community and for being such a vital link to the success of the Fraser
River”, continued Scott.

 

“The nominations in support of Fraser Surrey Docks clearly praised the
spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and partnership of the company over
the past 50 years,” says Catherine Ouellet-Martin, Fraser River Discovery
Centre Executive Director. “These qualities are the hallmarks of successful
businesses on the Fraser and that of all inductees in the Fraser River Hall
of Fame,” she continued.

 

To celebrate the induction of Fraser Surrey Docks, the Fraser River
Discovery Centre Society invites you to an elegant celebration breakfast on
Friday, November 16th, 2012.  The Fraser River Hall of Fame Breakfast will
be held in the Upper Galleries of the Discovery Centre overlooking the

The Fraser River Discovery Centre Society operates the Fraser River
Discovery Centre. Through interactive exhibits and engaging programming, the
non-profit society connects communities in discovery and celebration of the
living, working Fraser River. The Discovery Centre is open Wednesday to
Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Admission to the exhibit galleries is by donation.
