More/LIRE PLUS

Survey: Edmontonians like idea of new city museum
Edmonton Journal Share/Partager
Edmontonians may be less likely to visit museums than other Albertans and less inclined to research their
roots. But they're amenable to a new city museum, the Edmonton Heritage Council says. Results of a
randomized online survey were released recently. The group will take the survey data - along with a
strategy for a new $45-million city museum - to city council next month. More/LIRE PLUS

Micah Lexier's 'Working as a Drawing' documents the artist's fascinating history
Straight.com Share/Partager
Micah Lexier must be the busiest artist in Canada. Acclaimed for his conceptual drawings, sculptures,
installations, books, and collaborative projects, he certainly is one of the most creative. In addition to his
newly minted exhibition and bookwork at the Burnaby Art Gallery, he has just closed a two-person show at
Artexte in Montreal and will see its companion publication spotlighted at the New York Art Book Fair this
fall. More/LIRE PLUS

Bluenose II to relaunch Sept. 29
CBC News Share/Partager
The restored Bluenose II is finally ready to take its first dip into the ocean. The government of Nova Scotia
announced that it will host a special celebration to launch the famous schooner in Lunenburg on Sept. 29.
The two-year renovation project has been plagued with controversy. More/LIRE PLUS

homme. More/LIRE PLUS

Monument to War of 1812 sought as DND struggles to get Afghan war recognized
The Canadian Press Share/Partager
The Harper government wants to commemorate the War of 1812 in stone and asked Tuesday for artists
who want to design a national monument to step forward with their qualifications. The bids will be
considered even as the military struggles to get recognition for the war in Afghanistan and to find a home
for the battlefield cenotaph that once sat at Kandahar Airfield. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Heritage Minister James Moore dropping into News Café
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
Heritage Minister James Moore will discuss the funding dispute surrounding the Canadian Museum for
Human Rights. Also on the agenda to be discussed are other issues related to federal support for arts and
cultural industries. More/LIRE PLUS
