Richmond Art Gallery celebrates Culture Days - September 28-30, 2012
Join us in the Richmond Art Gallery for various events during Culture Days, a celebration of arts and culture across Canada. 

 

September 28 - 30, 10:00am - 5:00pm
Throughout the weekend, join us for the exhibition Open Conversations: The Art Practice of Carole Condé & Karl Beveridge.  Guest curated by Scott Marsden, this exhibition features the work of renowned Canadian artists Carol Condé and Karl Beveridge. For over three decades, Condé and Beveridge have defined their photo-based art practice around the facilitation of dialogue among diverse communities and networks, exploring the concept of dialogue as a form of socially engaged art practice.
The exhibition also features a video interview with the artists, and an exhibition related hands-on art activity in the Hope Smith Art Lounge.

 

September 29 & 30, 2012, 11am-3pm 
Gallery tours in English and Mandarin
Art Gallery docents will answer your questions about the current exhibition and provide free tours in either English or Mandarin.

 

September 29, 1:00-2:30pm
Panel Discussion - Cultural Workers at the Richmond 
Cultural Centre 
What does it mean to be an arts and culture worker? Come meet some of the people who work at the Richmond Cultural Centre and Library to find out what happens behind the scenes when exhibiting, preserving, and presenting arts, culture and heritage in Richmond. Free admission. Light refreshments provided.

 

September 29, 2:45-3:45pm
Curator Talk and Tour with Scott Marsden 
Join Guest Curator Scott Marsden for a casual talk and tour of the Open Conversations exhibition. Everyone welcome to attend. Light refreshments included.

 

 

September 30, 1:00-4:00pm

Richmond Printmakers Open House

Printmaking demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to try printing processes will be taking place in the Art Gallery's Program Room.  Join the Gallery's resident art group for free art activities and to learn more about the many ways to create a print.  Supported by Cinevolution and the City of Richmond.
