Councillors: Consider using Casa Loma as a museum
National Post Share/Partager
City councillors Josh Matlow and Joe Mihevc believe Casa Loma should be a city museum and make their
pitch in an open letter. Future options for Casa Loma will be on an upcoming council agenda regarding the
future of Casa Loma, presenting a historic opportunity for a bold re-purposing of one of the city's most
iconic landmarks. More/LIRE PLUS

Winnipeg's towering achievement
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
One of the most important projects in Winnipeg's history hit a significant milestone recently. The last pane
of glass was installed on the Canadian Museum for Human Rights' Tower of Hope, signifying the end of
exterior construction and the start of work indoors. The glass piece was the last of 1,669 panes installed.
They will withstand the extreme heat of summer and the bitter cold of winter, thanks to testing by Winnipeg-
based E.H. Price. More/LIRE PLUS
Gallery: Rare plane lands at Western Canadian Aviation Museum
Metro Winnipeg Share/Partager
A rare airplane has been added to the collection at the Western Canadian Aviation Museum. A 1937
Lockeed Electra plane landed at the museum, where it will go on display as part of an exhibit honouring Air
Canada's 75th anniversary. The Lockheed Electra was a twin-engine, all-metal monoplane developed by
the Lockheed Aircraft Corp. in the 1930s. It carried a pilot, a co-pilot and 10 passengers. More/LIRE PLUS

Tobias Wong: A reappraisal of design's bad boy
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
In a space filled with Tobias Wong's work, it is hard not to think about departed possibilities. Fortunately,
the work is distracting, and provokes other notions. Wong - visionary, collaborator, anti-consumerist,
provocateur, 'paraconceptualist'(as he called himself), and prankster - was 35 when he died two years
ago. In his short career, the designer/artist created work that poked at North American consumer culture,
posed uncomfortable questions about authorship and responded very much to his adopted home of New
York City. More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE

Wax museum likes our looks
Regina Leader-Post Share/Partager
Regina has curb appeal, says the owner of a wax museum. Kenneth Lane, CEO of Lanewood Galleries
Ltd., has been on the hunt for a new location for its wax museum. The Royal London Wax Museum owned
by Lanewood Galleries, closed its doors on Sept. 19, 2010, after 50 years of operation in Victoria, B.C.
After a short break from running the museum, Lane decided it was time to start scouting possible new
locations for his unique collection. More/LIRE PLUS
2 new exhibits slated at Fort Frances museum
Fort Frances Times Online Share/Partager
There continues to be plenty to see at the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre, with two new art
exhibits there starting this month. 'A Part: Painting Exhibition by Visual Artist Lindsay Joy Hamilton' is the
exhibit on the main floor of the museum, which officially opens with a reception. More/LIRE PLUS
