TWENTY ARTISTS CREATE ONE OF A KIND PIECES OF ART TO SUPPORT NATIVE YOUTH

Lattimer Gallery raises $38,910.00 for Urban Native Youth Association

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – December 10, 2013

For the past 7 years, selected Northwest Coast Native artists have donated
their time, materials and creative efforts for Lattimer Gallery’s Annual
Charity Bentwood Box silent auction. In the process of raising donations for
charity, these artists are given the opportunity to create outstanding
pieces by thinking ‘outside the box’. All of the boxes have first been
steam-bent and donated by Métis/Cree artist James Michels.

This year, Lattimer Gallery and its participating artists raised $38,910.00
for Urban Native Youth Association, a Vancouver organization which has been
providing 21 prevention-focused programs and services to Native Youth since
1988 to help meet their immediate and longer-term needs. UNYA’s work
includes advocacy, community development, and providing youth with
meaningful opportunities to provide input into their programs and services.

Lattimer Gallery would like to thank all of our customers, sponsors and
participating artists: Jody Broomfield (Salish/Squamish), Corey Bulpitt
(Haida), Joe Campbell (Coast Salish), Gus Cook (Kwakwaka’wakw), Phil Gray
(Tsimshian/Cree), Landon Gunn (Kwakwaka’wakw/Métis), KC Hall (Heiltsuk),
Bradley Hunt (Heiltsuk), Dean Hunt (Heiltsuk), Shawn Hunt (Heiltsuk),

Committed sponsors include Yukiko Matsu-Pissot, Precision Graphics, Hub
International, Vancity, Schmidt & Funk Financial Services Ltd.,
kentpictureframing.com and First Nations 101.

Lynda Gray, Executive Director of the Urban Native Youth Association, says
that “she is very grateful for the generosity shown by so many supporters
coming together to make a clear statement that supporting Native youth is
very important.” She adds that “this sort of partnership development is
very important in raising the profile of UNYA, encouraging Native youth, and
raising funds for important work”.

Peter Lattimer, owner of the Lattimer Gallery says “It gives me great pride
to work with such amazing artists to help this cause”
