Guardians of the Coast Speakers Series and
Your Chance to Preview our Newest Exhibit
The Guardians of the Coast speakers series continues February 27th at 7pm in our historic courtroom. Join us as ret'd Coast Guard Manager, Jon Churchill speaks about the history of the Coast Guard’s Inshore Rescue Boat Program and the creation of both the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Office of Boating Safety.
With an illustrious career spanning 37 years, Jon was instrumental in creating some of the programs which have shaped the Canadian Coast Guard into the organization it is today. Jon served not only here on the West Coast, but he also worked in Ottawa at Coast Guard Headquarters when he retired in 2003. In addition to being a former manager, Jon spent 10 years in sea operations and has a wide range of knowledge about all things Coast Guard. Sure to be a fascinating talk, don't miss the opportunity to hear Jon speak here at the Maritime Museum as a complement to our successful Coast Guard exhibit.
Admission to the speakers series is free with your membership. Admission for non-members is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and children under 12 free. Doors open at 6:30pm.
Afterwards, preview our newest exhibit
After Jon's talk, join us for a members’ exclusive preview of our newest exhibit Floating on the Margins: Chinese Life on the Canadian Pacific Passenger Liners, celebrating the 155th anniversary of Victoria’s Chinatown.
