Does anyone know a good Chinese Restaurant?

That is - one that might have existed 10 or 15 years ago, probably in the greater Vancouver area.

A Burnaby resident has been sorting out her brother's estate. He enjoyed making a deal and loved to attend auctions. She has been dealing with everything from marble status to outboard motors. The reason she called the BVM is that in the back reaches of a garage storeroom she found what she thought was part of a rickshaw.

She called the museum to come and have a look.

Unable to resist such an interesting opportunity I went to check it out.

In this case the object in question is a small, one wheel rickshaw. The reason for one wheel is that the opposite side is designed to bolt on to a wall or a metal frame.

The unit is big enough to hold two small children. It is built on a metal, pipe frame with a wood body and folding, fabric top. The one wheel is a bicycle wheel with a chrome fender. There is no bicycle seat and pedals or a drawbar.

No one knows where this rickshaw came from. Judging by the layer of dust it has been in storage for over 10 years.

It is in too good of condition to have been an outside display. We think it might have been a lobby decoration intended to entertain families while they waited for a table.

It is hard to tell if this rickshaw is a one of a kind item or if they appeared in more than one restaurant.

There were a couple of Burnaby restaurants called The Rickshaw, but no one I have met can say if they used such an item or not.

So the question is: Does anyone remember a restaurant that featured such decor?

Any speculation is welcome - please keep jokes about one wheel rickshaws to a minimum!

I have some less than great pictures of the rickshaw. If you would like to have a look send me an email.
