[BCMA] SMOC - Oral History Project

Do you have an interest in Archival Studies or Oral History?

SMOC presents a number of lectures every year, many hosted by our Honorary Curator, Ivan Sayers. If you’ve ever attended one of our events, you know that his presentations are enlightening, educational, engaging, and entertaining.

Much of the information Ivan shares, including the provenance of the items and garments that he showcases, is not archived anywhere. To accurately store and record this information, SMOC would like to find a volunteer with an interest in archival studies or oral history to record each lecture, transcribe, and store along with a database of images from the lecture.

We can provide a digital recorder and software which transcribes the recordings into a Word document. If need be, we can also provide a digital camera at each lecture. We also provide you with free entry to each of SMOC’s lectures that Ivan hosts.

Interested candidates should email info at smoc.ca with a brief statement of your qualifications.
