Employment Opportunity – Executive Director
Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society

One of BC's few historically intact canneries, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery
National Historic Site commemorates the history of Canada's West Coast
fishing industry from the 1870's to the present.  The Cannery is home to
over 10,000 artifacts and offers a variety of interpretive programs and
special events for school groups, tourists and the general public.  We are
currently seeking an Executive Director to join our team.

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in close collaboration with
Parks Canada, the Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the
management and operations of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic
Site.

Responsibilities include:
   ·	Provide leadership and manage operations of a national historic site
      and non-profit society
   ·	Prepare strategic and business plans, annual reports, budgets and
      financial statements for both Parks Canada and the Gulf of Georgia
      Cannery Society
   ·	Establish and maintain relationships with related organizations,
      government departments and agencies, community groups, corporations,
      foundations and individuals
   ·	Oversee marketing and public relations activities
   ·	Develop and implement policies and procedures
   ·	Recruit, select and supervise staff, consultants and contractors
   ·	Work effectively with the Board of Directors; present regular reports
      and make recommendations at Board and Committee meetings
   ·	Supervise the development and delivery of public and school programs
      and special events
   ·	Supervise the design, construction and maintenance of exhibits
   ·	Ensure effective facility maintenance and security procedures are in
      place
   ·	Implement revenue generating and fundraising strategies
   ·	Write grant applications and oversee the administration of grant
      programs

Qualifications:
   ·	5+ years of senior management experience in the heritage, cultural,
      non-profit or tourism sector
   ·	Post-secondary degree in a related field
   ·	Demonstrated ability to identify new opportunities for partnerships
      and programs, establish priorities and prepare and implement
      strategic plans
   ·	Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team
   ·	Experience working effectively with local destination marketing
      organizations and the tourism sector, municipal, provincial and
      federal government departments and agencies and a wide variety of
      community groups and stakeholders
   ·	Effective communication, public relations and presentation skills
   ·	A criminal record check is required

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 and a
comprehensive benefits package.
