Dear Member,

There are many activities this March at the Museum sure to please members of all ages.  From our diverse range of children's programs over spring break, to the opening of our new exhibit Floating on the Margins: Chinese Life on the Canadian Pacific Passenger Liners, March is a great month to visit us.  Remember, admission to the Museum is always free with your current membership and entitles you to discounts in the gift shop and to some programs.

On April 20th, our annual Massive Marine Garage Sale (http://mmbc.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=f90483b8e0&e=cfc47c903b) is at Ogden Point.  More details for this well attended event can be found to the right.  As you begin your spring cleaning, please think of us!  The Museum relies on donated items to sell at this event which raises money for the Museum.  We will accept a wide range of maritime, outdoor, and household items including your toasters, your dishes, and even your old books too.  Please no furniture, hydrocarbons, engines with fuel, open paint cans, solvents, or hazardous materials. To donate items or to buy a table to sell your own goods, please contact Ann Jones at ajones at mmbc.bc.ca (mailto:ajones at mmbc.bc.ca) or 250-385-4222 ext 102.

New Exhibit! Floating on the Margins: Chinese Life on the Canadian Pacific Passenger Liners

On February 28th, our newest exhibit opened which celebrates the 155th anniversary of Victoria’s Chinatown. The Maritime Museum http://mmbc.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=3e774643f3&e=cfc47c903b proud to present this unique exhibit which celebrates the important contributions that Chinese Canadians made to BC’s maritime heritage. With items from the Maritime Museum and UBC’s Chung Collection, this exhibit illustrates the lives of early Chinese Canadian sailors and passengers on the Canadian Pacific Passenger Liners.  Join us
daily from 10am to 5pm.  As always, admission is free with your membership.

Salty Sundays: Moving Day
March 10th, 1pm to 3pm
On March 10th, we will be focusing on immigration and what life was like for early immigrants as they moved across oceans and integrated into coastal communities. In partnership with the Royal BC Museum and the Greater Victoria Art Gallery, this installment of Salty Sundays includes a shared theme, so visit all three this month and check out some of Victoria’s best family activities. Enjoy crafts, activities, programming, and tours. Salty Sunday programming is included with admission or your membership. Spring Break at the Maritime Museum
March 11th to 23rd, 1pm to 4pm
Sail on down to the Maritime Museum of BC this Spring Break (http://mmbc.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=d63d3c8b4b&e=cfc47c903b) for fun, adventure and of course pirates.  On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday join our workshops, http://mmbc.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=392ce41151756bc6d355f6be7&id=567cd92064&e=cfc47c903b A Sailor's Life for Me!, Extreme Exploration, and Mermaid Tales and Mythical Beasties, for kids ages 6+. The Museum will also host its popular Pirate School on Tuesdays and Thursdays for all ages. Ghost Hunt!
March 16, 10pm to 3am
Experience the Museum like never before by searching for the building’s more mysterious residents. Open to skeptics and believers alike, this event will provide an opportunity to search for what really wanders the halls of the old Supreme Courthouse after midnight. Former UK based Dawn Kirkham, clairvoyant medium and owner of Beyond Belief Paranormal Events will use her years of experience to facilitate the ghostly investigation. This will not be a guided tour; participants will use investigative devices to seek out the unknown in the galleries of the Museum. Cost is $55 + HST per person and includes light refreshments. An Evening with Theatre on Canoe
March 20, 8pm
Join us for two nautical play readings and sea shanties in the courtroom. This evening supports both Theatre on Canoe and the Maritime Museum. Tickets $20. Call 250-385-4222 to get yours today.

** Annual Massive Marine Garage Sale
