Agents of Change - Engaging Our Communities

October 23 - 26, 2013

Parksville Museum and Archives, and Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa and Resort, Vancouver Island

This year's conference will stimulate and provoke lively discussion around the idea of museums, galleries and archives as agents of change.  As spaces for dialogue, exploration, and preservation of local knowledge and the revitalization of community, how can we engage our communities more effectively?

Our communities are experiencing turbulent times. Museums, galleries and archives, uniquely situated as public places for civic engagement, are untapped and untested sources of ideas, knowledge and information. Our institutions are ideally placed to engage in critical dialogue, as well as individual and community participation in the quest for greater awareness and workable solutions to contemporary issues.

Participate in this important conference by submitting a session proposal (attached to this email) by Friday June 21st via email to :

Emailed submissions are preferred, but you can also submit by fax to the BCMA Secretariat office at (250) 387-1251 or post a submission in time for the deadline to:
