A Magical Night of Celebration and Entertainment
Tuesday October 22, 7 - 10 pm at the Museum, Presentation House Arts Centre
209 West 4th Street, North Vancouver

You won't want to miss this celebratory fundraiser for the Friends of the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Society. It promises to be memorable. Planned around a toe-tapping performance of Good Timber: Songs and Stories of the Western Logger,  the evening will start with a reception and a pre-show talk by logging historian Tim Woodland. The exhibit, The Great Cut: the Land, the Men, the Work of the North Shore's logging industry will also be open for viewing.

Good Timber will start at 8:00 pm. It's a tribute in songs and stories to the men and women who worked in the forests in days past. The play is based on poems by Robert Swanson (called the "Bard of the Woods") that have been set to music and are sung in woodsmen's vernacular. Good Timber has been called "part musical revue and part history lesson." It's also a lot of fun! Presented around the province to glowing reviews, Victoria's Monday Magazine called the play "an expertly executed, top-notch" musical revue, "a damned fine piece of theatre."

The Museum & Archives is celebrating a planning milestone for the creation of a new-style museum on the waterfront in North Vancouver so there will also be information and a display about the new museum. A post-show gathering will round out the evening. While enjoying dessert and drinks, you will meet and mingle with the actors and the museum's director, Nancy Kirkpatrick.
