Conversations with Ann Kipling
at the Kelowna Art Gallery

April 28, 2014 - Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Art Gallery presents the next in our Conversations series on Saturday, May 3, from 1 to 3 pm, in conjunction with our current exhibition, Ann Kipling: The Falkland Drawings: a thirty-five-year survey.

Artist Ann Kipling will be joined by curators Liz Wylie and Roger Boulet, as well as art historian Carolyn MacHardy, to discuss and contextualize Kipling's art and career. Conversations will be moderated by Lake Country-based artist and curator Katie Brennan. Each panelist will speak for ten minutes after which our moderator will field questions from the panel and audience. The Conversations series is free and open to the public.


Ann Kipling is one of BC's foremost and celebrated contemporary artists, with a national reputation for drawings of landscape, people and animals. Her work is collected and displayed across the country. Since graduating with honours from the Vancouver School of Art in 1960, Ann Kipling has been the recipient of many prestigious awards, including an honorary Doctorate from Emily Carr University, and in 2004 the Audain Prize, a British Columbia Visual Arts Award for lifetime achievement.

Ann Kipling: The Falkland Drawings is a comprehensive look at the sweep of the artist's work since she began living near Falkland, BC in 1976. The show features eighty-seven works that focus almost entirely on her work with the landscape, or, as Kipling prefers to say, the natural environment. The works are hung in chronological order, so that viewers experience the changes in her work over time as they move around the gallery.

Ann Kipling: The Falkland Drawings: a thirty-five-year survey will be on view at the Kelowna Art Gallery until June 15, 2014.
