Hi George,
Not used those specific bulbs, but have replaced all our gallery lighting
with led. We had mr16 50w halogen lights and replaced with a mixture of mr16
led, Phillips EnduraLED 10w, mainly 3000K, a few 2700K and 4000K,
35\36Degree spread. Can't remember the CRI off hand, but I think it varied
from 85 to 95 depending on the colour temp. We like our history gallery to
have a slightly warmer colour look, but went whiter in office space.
We were able to put them into our existing fixtures.
Overall we have been thrilled! No bulb replacement, able to move a fixture
without risk of burns..., decreased energy usage.
While the bulbs our dimmable, our existing track system was not set up for
this, so that is not being taken advantage of. One trick we did to control
LUX levels was to cut out plastic window screen and place in front of the
bulb as needed.
Despite what I thought, there is still some heat coming off the bulb
housing, but minor compared to the halogen.
Because of their cost, I have hesitated using them in a few places where the
public could easily remove them.
A lot of upfront cost, but well worth the initial outlay.
Cheers
Lee

Subject: [BCMA] Question about LED bulbs
Hello all:
We are considering using LED bulbs and wondered if any art museums had any
experience with them. In particular- at least in part because of our very
high ceilings and long beam throw we are considering: Sylvania Ultra,
professional series LED, Par 38/ 21 watt indoor/outdoor bulb with a CRI of
95.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they might share?
Thanks very much.
George
