FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maritime Museum presents events and tours every day in last month at Bastion
Square
Visit the Maritime Museum of BC and discover BC's history through exhibits
and tours before the doors close to make ready for the move from 28 Bastion
Square.
Until Oct 21, the Maritime Museum of BC will offer daily tours included with
admission at 1 or 2pm featuring topics including: the Hudson's Bay Company,
Smuggling, Weird and Wonderful artifacts, Empress of Ireland, Shipwrecks,
Court is in Session, and Ghosts of the Maritime.
A self-directed sketch session will also be held at the Museum on Oct 11
from 10:30-12:30pm for artists of all levels to get a last look at capturing
the artifacts on display at the Museum.
The Hudson's Bay Company Tour will fascinate those with a local history
interest, with snippets of social history from the Hudson's Bay Company's
time in Victoria and about their role in the growth of Canada's fur trade,
economy and society. This tour will focus especially on the HBC objects and
sites in and around the Museum. Dates can be confirmed on the Maritime
Museum's website.
Learn about the dark and dangerous history of BC's illegal maritime
happenings, on a Smuggling Tour! Focusing on the opium and alcohol
industries, tour guides will share stories about unique characters and the
lively world of smuggling, which played an integral role in shaping our
maritime past.
Penchant for the paranormal? A few options are available this season at the
Maritime Museum: a shorter daytime ghost tour, Ghosts of the Maritime, or
our hour-long tour in the old courthouse building at night, Haunted Hallways
Ghost Tour. Find out why the Maritime Museum of BC is known as the most
haunted building in the most haunted city in Western Canada from captivating
storytellers. With tales of death, violence and mystery, these tours are
not for the faint of heart!
On Oct 18, the Maritime Museum will be hosting its last ghost investigation
with participants searching for the unknown residents of the building.
Register on the Museum's website for this event to experience what lurks in
the dark old rooms of the Museum.
