Greetings, colleagues,

I am wondering if any of you have ever come across some original
sketches by James Turnbull, as per Lindsay Moir's inquiry addressed to
me. I regrettably could not be of assistance, but thought some one out
there might be able to. I am posting this with her permission. You can
reply to me, or directly to Lindsay, whose email address appears below.

Hello, Roger: I'm going around in circles on a question, and I hope
you'll be able to tell me if I'm totally wasting my time. We had an
enquiry from a researcher in England

I am researching the above [the Royal Engineers] and came across a
reference to the Glenbow-Alberta Institute holding some original
sketches made by Sapper James Turnbull when surveying for a wagon road
through the defiles of the Coquihall towards Kamloops.

The Archives received the original enquiry but couldn't find anything so
sent it to the Art Dept. -- no luck there either. Have you come across
any references to these sketches being in a collection somewhere? It's
very possible that they might be sketch maps. I'd appreciate any
suggestions you have.

Lindsay
