Community Services Assistant 2, Senior Leader
(Auxiliary Position) Surrey Museum
As a Senior Leader you will assist in the implementation, delivery,
promotion and evaluation of high quality heritage programs and services at
the Surrey Museum, including school curriculum based programs, special
events, workshops, and heritage demonstrations. You will coordinate and
prepare daily program activities in a variety of heritage program delivery
situations. You will provide guidance to museum volunteers. As this is an
auxiliary position, shifts are varied.
Typical duties may include program setup and cleanup such as the sorting,
organizing, preparation and cleanup of program equipment and supplies;
preparation of craft or activity templates and samples; delivery and
instruction of program content and activities; instruction of basic craft
activities; compiling evaluations and participant feedback; assisting to
train volunteers in program delivery. Strong organizational, interpersonal,
and communication skills are required. Experience working with children is
required. Creativity and the ability to work independently are inherent to
the position. Experience with a variety of heritage crafts such as knitting,
crocheting, weaving, quilting or sewing would be an asset.
The candidate should have completed Grade 12 supplemented by 1 year of
relevant experience in community service work or an equivalent acceptable
combination of training and experience. Additionally some knowledge of
cultural programs, their purpose and objectives would be beneficial.
Completion of a criminal record check will be required. Valid BC Driver's
License with a safe driving history and Emergency First Aid and CPR
Certificate are also required.
